SCIENCE TALK '20 -- COVID-19 Statement
SCIENCE TALK '20 is scheduled to take place as planned on March 26-27, 2020, in Portland, OR. The Executive Board is closely monitoring the the coronavirus outbreak in the US and globally, and will immediately communicate any changes to the conference based on State and/or National public health recommendations.
Science Talk serves the science communication community and we invite community opinion. Therefore, all registered attendees for SCIENCE TALK ’20 will receive an email with a link to an anonymous poll. Attendees can vote whether we continue with SCIENCE TALK ’20 or cancel the conference.
If we hold the conference as scheduled, we will provide hand sanitizer stations throughout the venue and work with venue staff to ensure venue cleaning and disinfection. For the safety of conference attendees, we ask that people not attend if they are experiencing any respiratory symptoms (coughing, sneezing, difficulty breathing) and/or have a fever. We also ask that people who have recently traveled from virus-impacted countries (China, Japan, South Korea, Italy) not attend, nor those who have been in recent contact with anyone exhibiting signs of respiratory infection. We will work with local emergency personnel, as needed.
We recognize that this is a constantly changing issue and appreciate patience as we continue to monitor the health situation.
We will update the website as new information becomes available.
