FOR PRESENTERS

Speakers

The SCIENCE TALK '20 theme is “Building Bridges.” Please think about how your presentation will fit into this theme.

You will be notified about your acceptance status by October 31.

Your presentation will be in one of 4 rooms at the Tiffany Center:
  • Emerald Ballroom (capacity of 500)
  • Crystal Ballroom East (capacity of 100)
  • Crystal Ballroom West (capacity of 100)
  • 3rd Floor Conference room (capacity of 40)

​The Emerald Ballroom has theatre-style seating, and the other 3 rooms have tables and chairs. Rooms will be assigned by the Program Committee; we cannot guarantee a specific room for your presentation.

Talks are 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. Workshops are 90 minutes, and panels are 60 minutes. We'll strictly adhere to the final schedule once it is determined and posted. Depending on the number of speakers, there may be a single track or double track for attendees, to be determined. All speakers MUST REGISTER* for the conference.

You will send your presentation to the coordinators by March 6. All presentations will be loaded on the conference laptop and QA’d for functionality before the conference. You will be able to double-check your presentation at a testing station in the “Green Room” anytime during the conference. Plan to arrive at least 1 hour before your presentation time.

Presentation requirements:
  • Optimum ratio of 16:9 (panorama 1920x1080/wide format)
  • ​Formats accepted: PDF, Microsoft PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides. (We'll be using MS 2019 on a Mac.)
  • Embedded video files should also be provided separately, if possible.
  • Indicate if you intend to use ‘presenter notes’ in PowerPoint or Keynote.

We will provide: computer, projector, screen, remote control, laser pointer, sound.

*We hope to be able to waive registration fees for speakers, but this will depend on our funding, and we cannot guarantee  waivers at this time.

Poster Presenters and Artists

The SCIENCE TALK '20 theme is “Building Bridges.” Please think about how your presentation will fit into this theme.

You will be notified about your acceptance status by January 20.

The poster and art session will be in the Crystal Ballroom at the end of the first day of the conference as part of the evening social event.

Poster presenters:
Dimensions of bulletin board - 4x8 feet. Pushpins will be supplied. 
There will be a storage area for posters where you can leave them before the setup time. Setup your poster anytime after 2pm the first day of the conference. You are expected to be at your poster for at least one hour during the Evening Social/Poster/Art Session. You must take down your poster by 8pm or it will be taken down and recycled.

Artists:
You will be supplied with one 3x8 foot table with a tablecloth. Your artwork can be laid flat on the table or propped up with devices that you supply. We are not able to supply anything for you to hang your art up. 
There will be a storage area for artwork where you can leave items before the setup time. Setup your art display anytime after 2pm the first day of the conference. You are expected to be at your art display for at least one hour during the Evening Social/Poster/Art Session. You must break down your display by 8pm.

All poster and art presenters MUST REGISTER for the conference.

Workshop Leaders

You’ll be given 90 minutes for your workshop. We’ll strictly adhere to the schedule. Plan to arrive at least 1 hour before your workshop to prepare.
